1985 Grand Marquis Ignition spout location? where is it?

I just got my 1985 grand marquis and i want to advance the timing and make sure timing is correct anyway, because the privous owner said he set it and i dont trust him. My marquis has 38,000 miles and still had all of its ignition wires, plugs, cap and rotor so i replaced everything with Ford Racing red wires, msd cap and rotor, and motor craft plugs. Im ready to advance timing but i cant find the darn spout. On my mustang and truck with 5.0's its right by the tfi module. Where is it on the marquis? and what do you guys bump your timing to? im thinking 14? to run on 87 octain fuel Thanks !

round plug right near the distributor in the harness of wires that come from the distributor plug.

CFI cars don't usually want more than stock 10btdc timing. They already run lean under heavy throttle, more timing just makes them more inclined to ping. You can try a little more but I wouldn't be surprised if its not happy about it.

ok... on that car... that is the spout. looks like that one has a different harness on it from the usual suspects.

just disconnect that connector. It'll work the same as removing the jumper block from the typical harness on all the others I've seen.

84-85 use that style. 86+ use the square plug that everyone is familiar with.
