is it me or is this a pic of a cfi tv rod working with an autolite 4 barrel. if so that would be a cheap and easy swap for cfi guys that want to convert.

Do you mean "working with a carb"?
The factory carbed cars used that same/similar rod as the CFI cars, its just a matter of the geometry of the rod matching up to an aftermarket carb thats the issue. A CFI-to-OE-2bbl swap is cake.
