Factory carb air cleaners are usually a cold air intake actually, but everyone rips those and the ductwork out. Cold air is denser, so it makes more power.

Blackhawk, the way you have the pipe right now you're actually choking your engine as the air has to make a very tight turn to enter the manifold through that rubber elbow. What I'd do if that was my car is totally ditch that elbow, go buy a straight silicone connector from the local AutoZone (the blue sleeve in NA's pic, comes with the two clamps too), and flip the metal pipe the other way - the end where the filter is now would attach to the manifold through the silicone connector, and the filter would go to the end where currently resides the rubber elbow. That'll give you a pretty smooth flowing intake, I think.

Dumb Question =
Could the bad intake set up have anyting to do with none de-reving exahust noist. When I rev it up it dos' thave a nice tight sound coming back down. It kinda dosn't do anything. Is that just because I have 2 1/2 inch pipes on a lopo?1989 LTD Crown Victoria LX.

Dunno, I just took all the exhaust off my car (redoing the part behind the H-pipe), and now when I floor it from idle it sounds as if something's about to blow up (nice little explosions), when I slowly increase the RPMs and then just take my foot off the gas it winds down pretty fast, but again making "explosions" every now and that. With the pipes connected de-revving it sounded just fine, and I have only glasspacks so no really any flow restrictions. Your 2.5" pipes do make for lower speed of the gases inside, but you should still be able to hear the RPM drop I think.

Will tomorrow. The intake is sits down more into the engine bay now. Like next to the alternator down the front. Looks good. I want to get pcics of my suspension tomorrow too. It's the last day I can cause they will be in the car after tomorrow.1989 LTD Crown Victoria LX.
