My gas mileage sucks... how about yours?

Check your cruise stuff, too.
I redid my entire vacuum system (or so I thought) two or three times trying to chase down a leak. Today I was tearing out useless stuff and found that the vacuum line going to my cruise was snapped.

What is this EVR solonoid? I replaced the vacuum canister shortly after I bought the car, and I use the cruise control frequently- but that's not to say that there is no leak. I'll check it out.

EVR solenoid is one of the three over on the passenger side fender. Its whichever one the green line connects to. Its the one with the small filter thing that looks like a film canister. That filter actually needs to be cleaned once in a while too. It looks like this:
This is an 86, so you probably won't have the coil where mine is.
The other ones are for the air bypass junk for the smog pump.

Ah. I replaced that with one from my parts car last spring. The cap, filter and check valve were missing from it at the time so it was leaking vacuum. I'm going to try to get the EGR working again, so hopefully that helps. I've poked around for vacuum leaks with no luck.

I slapped the EGR back together, cleaned the TB and set the timing at 12*BTDC. Driving like a little old granny with the cruise set at 55 I managed 23.1 mpg, and today driving a little more like my usual self with the cruise set at 68 I managed 20.3... I think I'm going to set a goal with this car to get the best possible fuel economy out of a box... forget performance.

I just got 14.2 in GL. This 2bbl is going in teh fucking garbage. I'm getting holley pro-jection, I don't care how mucn it costs.

I have 3.73's and was getting close if not less than than. I replaced my 02 sensors and it's alot better. I probably get 15+. Didn't bother looking to see. I have noticed I have to fill up one less time (or a little less money each time).

If I fix my vaccume leak (brake booster) will that do anything for mpg?

YES! These motors don't like vacuum leaks ONE BIT!

Why not just find a junked EFI box or fox and harvest the parts from that? It'd be cheaper/better than pro-jection.

That's what I was thinking. Stock ford parts even with a megasquirt or other stand alone would prolly be cheaper/easier.

If I went the stock injection route, could I still use my Comp Cams 4X4 cam with it???

If you went with mass air SEFI, probably you could.

Best thing YOU can do is bounce that CFI off of the nearest pavement.
