Got an 09 police CV air box, zip tube and maf today.







It is much much bigger AND lighter than my current set up. Cant wait to throw it on...when i have the time.

I've copied these posts into a new thread, since we don't have a dedicated thread for this mod.
Since these posts are sort of out of context, I'll add that Dave previously replaced his inner fender with one from a 90-91 gmq/cv which have the mounting holes for this airbox.
He has also upgraded his washer/coolant tank, which you must also do for this to fit.

I did some junkyard investigating and found that the 5.0 fox tubes are big enough for one of these... The one in the pic is from a LSC (this is the restrictive one, I'm looking for the good one)... I just need to find a bottom half that works with it and I can install this thing!

I would like to try one of these with a good filter. And compair it with my short ram and cone filter. The mass air sensor looks like it's built into the box. Any idea what size the mass air sensor is on these? Also what size is the pipe that the ziptube hooks to?

Shazaam! The fox tube does work. Its a stretch, but it goes on with a little room to move. If its enough, we'll see. I haven't driven it yet becuase i don't have a filter for it.

In my 85, the connector for the forward lighting and horns couldn't be more in the way, but its work-aroundable. I tried to find somewhere else to go with it when I installed the inner fender, but no dice.

Is 05+ the same as the marauder intake? Also, is the MAF the the 4 bolt flange style?

Its 04 or 05... just look for the ridges on the upper part of the box. The actual Marauder piece uses the bolt-on MAF, but the CVPI one has an integrated MAF. They're both supposed to be the same otherwise.

hmmm, I want to switch to one of these but idk how I will hook up mu maf to the box. I guess I need to buy one so I can stare at it for hours and figure something out lol.

The maf is integrated into the box on the cv one can someone measure the od of the maf for me? is it 3'' or bigger?

You're right, that is a pickle... you would surely need to twEEC it to wire in the larger MAF...
I wonder if you could find an air tube to chop in half, try to 'splice' your MAF into a Frankenstein air tube...

I was thinking more of the frankenstein route using my fox style maf.

Is there a difference between the police air boxs and and the civi ones? I called the local yard and he said he showed to different part numbers for them.

If I got one that had the bolt on maf I could just bolt this to the box http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...googleshopping then use a 4'' silicon coupler to connect it to my maf , then use my 3'' tube to my intake I already have.

If you use a Marauder airbox you can put YOUR maf right on it and then use the CVPI zip tube with it.

If you have mass air and use the 04+ CVPI airbox and 80MM MAF or the 05 civilian 70MM MAF you'll have to get a tune, looks like no way around that.
Of course the 04+CVPI zip tube works with this set up. But do not use the 05 civilian airbox, its no different than the smaller older CV airboxes. It just has a built in MAF like the CVPI's

If you don't have mass air but instead have speed density, this 04+CVPI airbox and zip tube go right on, no problem. I would suggest 06+CVPI zip tube for this application, but the others will work.

And don't forget to decide how you want to hook up the IAT sensor.
