    This is upsetting....

poked around today.... Not good. Bulkhead is rusted clear through, big hole right behind the rear control arm mount, and it's rotted through the one weld on the frame. The pile of rust is only some of the stuff that was in the bulkhead. In the one pic you can see clear through to the front bodymounts...

It's fixable... but it's pretty bad. It's going to need reinforcement and I guess I'l be making some heavy lower braces to support it even more.

Ouch... yeah, that isn't good. Is that because of where the A/C condensation? I checked that region on my car last year, seeing as it seems to be an issue. Fortunately, mine seems to be solid there. But, I will have to check again this year, just because I did make the A/C operational again; not that one year of light use would cause that big of an issue.

    You plan to fix this?

Gonna try. It's in a bad place though. The whole area is pretty much disintegrated.

When you go to fix it, take more metal off than you think is required. It's easier to make bigger pieces, and it makes sure you got rid of all the rusted pieces. And be sure to support the car is many places, especially around that corner.

getting rid of allthe rusted stuff will be tough. The whole bulkhead inside and out is rotted.

I know, I've been there, and if you don't do it right, you'll have to do it again as I do.

Eastwood sells a a lot of chassis treatments like their rust encapsulator and chassis black coating once the metal is patched. My car has more can's of Por15 in it then I can remember anymore. Hope all works out for you.

I think now is a good time to start looking into rack and pinion steering and some other mods.

looks almost exactly like the Lincolns frame. I noticed a small hole, but once I started poking around with a screwdriver....

I think it involved some rubber tube siliconed into the hole in the bottom of the evaporator box, and the tube routed somewhere safe.

My frame has a hole, on the other side. Right around where the transmission linkage hooks up its got a smallish hole. On the side where the AC dumps its solid.

My car has rot in the same area; not quite as bad, but bad enough. I also have some rot on the side of the front rail (area in red box):

Yeah, it is those two round holes. To make it look better, I picked away as much rust as possible, and rounded it out w/ a ball peen hammer before painting it. :morons:

If it gets much worse, I'll have to look into getting it repaired. Looks like it'd cost a pretty penny.
