transmission crossmember

any one have an idea of what cars got different crossmembers?

ive noticed that there are two crossmembers used on our cars.

my car has a heavy thick crossmember, but ive seen cars at the junkyard with crossmembers that look much smaller.

Thats what mine looks like, both the original and the one I found to replace it. I don't know what the replacement came from, I found it laying on the ground between two aeros with a very decent condition trans mount. It fit in my car and bolted to the AOD though.

i dont remember either of mine looking any skimpier than that one

ive seen some that look more like the size of exhaust tubing. and it couldnt have been a fox crossmember cause they look totally different. maybe it only a few got them. next time i go to the junkyard ill see if i can find one

Maybe the newer ones were different. Like the '88 style and what not.
