i was swapping my old radio with another radio i got from a 1983 town car. after finding out that radio was bad as is got very staticky raising the volume and changing the bass and treble. So i put my old one in and now my light switch when you pull it out one click it doesn't light up the radio the instrument cluster or even dim the tripminder. Whats the problem or can this be because i wedged a rock on the door light plunger to shut it off when i was working. my headlights go on fine whats the problem.

my fuses seem fine and my light switch lights up the interior when i turn it all the way to the left. do i have a bad light switch or did something come disconnected.

Did you check each of the fuses and verify that they are not burned out, or did you just look at them from the top? You'll need to pull each one and make sure its not burned. If they are confirmed good, my vote is on a dead headlight switch. Check the wiring around the radio for pinches or damage though. Since this happened when you were messing with the radio, I can't help but think the wiring in that area may have a problem.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

i will check the wiring i also remember when i had my lights wouldn't shut off problem. i kept turning on and off the headlight switch. but if i had a bad headlight switch wouldnt that not allow me to turn on my headlights.

do you think something may have come loose. i was reaching my hand above the headlight switch to hit the knob release button do you think something could have come loose.

could be that the headlight switch plug is partially melted and one of the pins came out of the plug when you reached in there

great i noticed i dont have tail lights either i think the switch is bad will check tomorrow if theres any burn marks on the plug. how do i access the plug.

The wire for the tail and parking lamps is almost always the one that melts too. Back corner of the connector, terminal is marked with a P.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

well there's no burn marks or melted plastic. i think my switch is bad as when you pull out the knob i got a loud click to it or maybe that's normal. i got pics and video of the sound.
