I pulled the codes on the 91 and the TPS, ECT, AIT, MAP and EGR came up as trouble makers. The catch is that they all use the same ground; pin 46(grey with red stripe). .15 volts at all sensors sharing this wire. I unplugged all sensors systematically. Maybe there's a physical break in a sensor causing a voltage leak? Nope. Fuck it, Ill get a new ecu. Nope. Same exact issue. I pull the connector off the ECU, snip the wire, ground the sensor side to the body and take a reading on the ECU side of the wire. .20 volts while running. Wtf? Sensor side; KoEo; 5 volts. Wtf. I was really hoping to get this straightened out because if i do an HO swap and the ECU wasnt the prob, Ill still have issues with an A9P or A9L. I need help!

If memory serves, thats the orange ground wire that bolts to the back of the intake manifold. It comes out of the oxygen sensor harness and bolts either to the lower or to the back of the head. Its often broken or just forgotten about.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Each O2 sensor has it's own ground on the back of the intake. I think the bolts are really in the back of the head. Really a pain to get to. Both sides should both feed into a common connector which could also be buried back there. The 2 big connectors (salt and pepper shakers) at the back of the engine also develop bad connections The actual computer ground goes right back to the battery. It's a small round single wire connector right off the battery post ground. That's taking for granted it's like my 86 GM or my brothers 85 TC.

there are actually three computer grounds. One to the battery, one to the engine block, and one to the body right next to the hood hinge. The one on the engine is the reference ground for the sensors, since there can be a few tenths of a volt difference between battery ground and engine ground due to dirty cables or whatever. Don't rightly know what the body ground is used for, maybe just shielding or something.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Are you talking about one of the 'salt and pepper' connectors where the bulk of the engine wiring comes out of the ECM harness? How bad was the crud?Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

black and grey smaller, hmm, sounds like the trans harness (black) and the oxy sensor harness (grey). The ground wire from block to ECM is in the oxy sensor harness.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
