Headlamp wiring harness
I am not very "electrically" inclined, and I wanted to do the headlamp relay mod so I sourced a pre-fabricated wiring harness. I purchased the harness through Daniel Stern Lighting and it was made by Susquehanna Motorsports out of Fleetwood, PA. Customer service through Daniel Stern was excelent and the quality of the harness seems good as well. I took some quick pics of the harness, going to try and install tomorrow. The harness uses one of the existing headlamp plugs as the actuator for the relays and all the connectors are ceramic as well. I like it because I don't have to cut into any wiring, and should I sell the car I can take the harness out and use it in a different one.

I also like it when things wind up plug-and play. I did pretty much the same thing, but i harvested a headlight harness from a junkyard car to use. I just wanted to get them re-wired so the high/low current doesn't flow through the headlight switch anymore. If you are upgrading headlights to something more powerful it's not a bad idea to upgrade wiring and connectors too.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Yeah I plan on upgrading later on. Stern recommended Bosch assemblies and osram bulbs. They included adapters with the harness to upgrade to the H4 bulbs later on.Originally posted by 85crownHPP View PostComment

I made my own, but it was plug and play. If my harness fails horribly, all I have to do is plug the stock headlight connectors back in, and we're back to 1986 again. It made a very nice improvement though. I measured the voltage before and after, and it was over 2 volts if I remember correctly.
WHen I was looking, I couldn't find one that seemed to be of decent quality and was the type I needed, so I did it myself. I tried a pre-made one on my Mark VII, and had lots of problems with it. The relays melted down, so I upgraded them. It kept burning them out or burning out headlights, so I removed it and went back to stock.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

New harness is in. It was easy, took me about 30 minutes or so. Headlights are definitely much brighter, and I have 2 more volts to the headlights now.
