assuming it's stock, you have a roller motor and need one with a machined steel gear. Only 85 and older non-roller motors use a cast iron gear.

It is stock and thank you for the reply. Any thoughts on why two different materials for the gears?

because of the cam gears that they mesh with. the older cams used iron... the newer roller cams use steal.

and to elaborate on that, iron gives up to steel. If you put an iron gear on a steel cam, you end up with a toothless gear and a pan of metal shavings. Put a steel distributor in a car with an iron cam, and you end up with a camshaft with no teeth plus the metal in the pan. Much more of a PITA to swap a cam than a distributor, but really you don't want that metal in the oil.
