So, this is the new baby. Bought her in November 06 with the intention of it being a spare car. Drove it for 10 days on a temporay permit, then a coolant hose blew and it was parked until april. I contemplated selling it a bunch of times, one of my friends almost bought it, but I decided not to sell it. After the 91 became too unreliable, and my friend picked up her Honda which I had been driving for the last month, I put her on the road. 4 days after that, I was at Toronto Motorsports Park getting my baseline numbers. Ran a rather suprising to me 17.119 at 79mph, the best outta my 91 was 17.78 at 74mph. Its almost bedtime, so I'm just gonna put a few pics up and add some more of all the mods later. Ones without hubcaps are on December 24th, Ones in daylight with hubcaps are the first day it was legally on the road. And then just the motor and interior stock. Mind the dirt.

First trip to the Dragstrip

My first trip out to Toronto Motorsports park to get my baselines. All I had done since I bought the car was change the rear springs (car handled so bad it was dangerous) and set the timing at 10* BTDC, which is what shopkey said the base timing was. Car was bone stock, even had the original Motocraft plugs in it. Best pass of the day was 17.19@79.11mph. I need work on my reaction time though...

I have a set of clears, I dont like how they look on he dark cars though. Next step on the Vic was to get rid of the saggy crappy rear springs and a rear swaybar. The 90 was set up for towing and had a fairly new set of dual rate springs in it. Grabbed a 90 TC fanshroud and a 93 Grandmarquis washer bottle at the scrapyard. Then I took the turbines off the 90 and painted them with Duplicolor Gunmetal wheel paint, then shod them with some cheap 235/60R15 tires. I think they kinda make the look. I also did what I believe was the first tuneup the car had ever had in its life, and replace the O.E.M coil with a MSD Blastercoil I found at the local pick'n'pull for $10. Have a set of Taylor wires waiting to go on, but they need to be cut to length and loomed properly, so I pulled the wires off the 90 cause they were in better shape.

Looks great man. I am watching the smog pump removal cause I got to do that after I am able to start it again. I am going to be doing the same thing as you, HO upper, VC gaskets and smog pump removal. You find out what size of belt you need?

Ya, I didnt know there was another Zack on here, though my nameis actually spelled Zach. I gutted the A/C too, so theres no belt left, so I cant help much there. I got a thread going in the Tech section about the AIR removal process. Check it out. Didnt think anything of the seats murph. I've never even seen another one with vinyl seats before around here. I much prefer cloth, these suck in the 30*c+ weather right now.

Very nice! The blacked out front end, turbines, and RWL tires make for a very nice, very unique look.

What rear end does the car have in it? 2.73 open, I'm guessing? You planning on changing that?

Its got a Y Code 3:08 open rear end in it. Looking for a k-code, but wondering now if that will stand up to constant abuse. Got my H.O intake and T.B on yesterday along with MKVII Valve covers, and a re-done Vacumn system to get rid of that ugly harness on the passenger fender. Will put pics up of the swap in a bit, family needs computer. Oh, and I'm flattered Boxman. It looks pretty crappy in person, I gotta say that pictures do this car justice.

One of my main focus points since my first trip to the track was getting some weight out of the car. The hood and trunk that came on the 88 had quite alot of rust hidden away, so I took the hood and trunk off the 90, cut all the excess bracing I could spare out of them, then scuffed them up and painted them with Duplicolor black truck bedlining. Saved a Total of 28lbs between the two.
Still gotta clean up the insides of both, gonna do some kinda ford symbol painted underneath the hood.















Next I got rid of the A/C and A.I.R system. Kind of running tally since I keep finding stuff to get rid of, but right now i've deleted 33lbs of A/C stuff. The A.I.R stuff and all the bracketry on the right side of the engine weighed 18lbs.








Last but not least is the spare tire and all is stuff. Weighed out at 52lbs for everything. Total weight removed so far is around 130lbs with a couple other small reductions, and according to the Ford VIN decoder, my car weighed in around 3740lbs. From what I could see, Blaze's was the only one stock lighter than mine. Now I need to find some aluminum bumpers...
