looked over the service records... they start in 1989 and are 1/3 dealership, then 1/3 local service station and then 1/3 my service station...

It got coil/module/cap/rotor/plug/wires in the last 10 years plugs/wires again since then...
Its had 2 mufflers and 3 tailpipes since 2001 I guess thats cheap pipe and short trips for you...

good old Porno Red interior. Looks to be in nice shape. Wierd setup with the dummy xfer case tho. Never seen shit like that before.

I went to the junkyard today, didnt get any panther parts but I scored a throttle body off an 87 2.9 ranger... this is the larger bolt-on TB according to the 2.9 FAQ at theRangerStation... it compared to the one on my BII is like comparing a box TB to a HO one...

Im going to tackle the VC's sunday (its TIGHT in there...) then I can drive it after I tag it, and see how it does. I also bought a set of used KYB's for it for $20+ship from a guy on the ranger fourm.

got the KYBs on a while ago, they helped a LOT in keeping it under control... also had the valve covers done for a while now (wasnt so hard) and been puttering around.
I'll be driving it more now that the 91 is down for a while... just filled the tank up to the top to check out the city MPG. Gonna check highway on the trip to Tiggies folks' place to pick up the transmission.

Then the drive back to Richmod puts us at the junkyards yards around 1:30... unless you wanna try to leave earlier... Ill need wake up calls, lol.

Gave this one a trans service (it has a 4x4 app filter in it ) rotate & balance and a fresh sticker.
It could use rear brakes so Ill be doing shoes & hardware soon...
I also had to install a front tag bracket (just got around to it) and the only one I could find at the junkyard that wasnt riveted on, looked like it had been knocked loose from an impact and bolted back on but i got it anyway, it doesnt look too bad.

mmmm... still liking this little truck....

I washed and polished it recently, she shined up nice!!! It pretty much looks like it does wet in the snow pic a few posts up, but it looks that way when shes dry now

I calculated 20mpg on the nose CITY last week, only 2mpg less than highway... I guess thats the 3.73's... shes definitly my official daily driver now. I wasnt driving it to my previous work before, becuase I didnt want to "rub it in the face" of the co-worker I "stole" the truck from...

Also the door panels weren't 100% tight on the doors, you could pull them out a little from being loose, so I replaced most of the door panel clips on both sides. Half the damn cheap replacements broke while trying to put them in, good thing I got a box of 20.

I also replaced all 4 door strikers, so now the back hatch will just fall closed on its own (used to have to slam it) and the doors dont rattle over bumps. Evidently you can indeed replace just the striker bushings (contrary to something I remeber someone posted), I just unscrewed the bolt out of the big washer and slipped a HELP! bushing on.

Ive also been using it to cart around the push mower and weed whacker to a couple lawns Ive been doing for extra $$$. Too bad I cant get spendy on the boxes yet...

well the fuel pump has been dying - Ive been able to get it to start by kicking the tank cover, but i don't wanna be stuck somewhere when it finally bites the big one, be it 2 weeks or 2 years from now...

I got a cheap motor-insert replacement instead of the whole assembly, since the price difference was about $100!

The tank wasnt too hard to drop - i had to remove the bumper filler the get at some nuts, and you have to have some strong fingers to get the lines loose by reaching from the side between the frame and body. There is a tight clearance 90 degree line inlet that will get hung up if you drop the tank more than an inch...
I also never got a brass punch... all the wood i tried just got mangled apart, so i used a small prybar to turn the ring!! :hairraise: but im still here.

The sun just set as i got the pump out (i procrastinated) so no i have to try to swap out the pump without breaking the assembly tonight, and put her back together tomorrow.
