Got some more parts and did a little work today. I hope Pirate is right about these shocks. They look beefy.

Pesty, those shocks look like the OEM police shocks. Most people do not understand that when you purchase Motorcraft 'police spec' shocks for a box, they are nowhere near what the OEM police shocks were. The OEM shocks were blue, and they had a 14 mm shaft, which the shocks you have also appear to have.

OEM police shocks were NOT gas charged either. I have the original ones off my car, saved for the part numbers. My OEMs weren't leaking, and they're probably better than what I have on there now.

          Good project, thought. Take pictures!

Holy crap, someone actually bought a set.

If you install the track-lock, remember the 8-clutch mod. For extra hijinks, add a 4x4 F150 spring, but you'll have to use a press to shove it in place, lol.

            Definitely 3.73 time.

Yeah and they better be good or Im coming for you!

While I'm at the susp. the shop that built my T5 is rebuilding the rear end with a limt. slip and either 3.73's or 3.55's it depends on what they have in stock and can cut me a better deal on.

definitely interested in how this will look and how the ride feels to you after you're done.

I thought I did a tech thread here somewhere about this....

Anyway, if you look at the friction and steel layout in the differential, it goes like this:

                          S-F-S-S-F-S-S-F-S-spider gear-spider gear-S-F-S-S-F-S-S-F-S

Buy a new friction kit from Ford, and reinstall it this way:

                          S-F-S-F-S-F-S-F-S-Gear-Gear-S-F-S-F-S-F-S-F-S

Use the new frictions from Ford, and use two of the best old frictions. Effectively, this changes the friction disc count from 6 to 8.

Be warned, it's a pain in the ass to get installed (I've actually had to rotate the spider gears in with the axle). Another trick is to add a new F150 'S' spring, but only if you're feeling brave.

Also remember to soak the friction plates for a while in gear oil, and don't forget the friction modifier.

By the way, this car really needs a set of Magnum 500 wheels.

Did you order a new flux capacitor? I hear with the new shocks the stock ones can get a little iffy with ripping the fabric of space-time, something you should watch out for.

Other than that it looks good.
