Well, I'm glad that it was him that did it, and not you - he's a lot closer than you are.

I honestly haven't used the keyless entry system even once yet, so no major loss there. My Tacoma has manual locks, I'm used to that.

I've got enough lights to sort of be street legal, so that's all I care about right now. But yeah, interior lights again would be nice.

At least the fuel gauge still works. 1/2 the time it reads empty, But it read full again fortunately. Westmont, here I come.

that fuel gauge has a self test mode that it goes through when the key turns to on but not cranking start the car after the speedometer reads 0 it goes through it's self test cycle. does the same in my lincoln. if you start the car and the low fuel ight blinks just drive with the car for a while and then it will start to add bars until it reaches the appropriate level of fuel by sensing the float level in the tank. the float might also need to be replaced could be acting wonky. always remember this when the tripminder hit 13.5 gallons used the cars gas tank is empty everytime you fill the cars tank to full reset the tripminder so i displays 0 G used so you know your limit. i would suggest filling it up full at 13 G used so you have gas to get to the gas station.

That's the scary wiring hiding behind the dash. I didn't do anything with the reverse lights. I only piggy backed fuses for the keyless entry bs and the gauges. USE THE EVTM! It has a layout of the fuse box. The only difference is that fuse 8 is no longer fuse 8, because a former owner thought it would be ok to put a 30amp fuse in place of a 15amp fuse.

If I'm fixing stuff, I'm getting paid right?

<.< I could compensate, within reasonable measures.

Side note: I guess I will dig into the Ford shop manual on Sunday at least. Ugh, fall/winter sucks. Daylight is like, so limited.

Also, I had a DAMN good luck under the transmission when I was QuickSteeling the cats, and it looks like the NSS is BURIED up there. >_< How'd you manage to get to it?

Also, after a bit of driving the reverse lights did indeed go again. I suspect it's one of those loose wires... but which one?

Not like I can really afford it right now. Putting the Merc on the road drained me of most of my paycheck. It was well north of $600 once all was said and done.

By the way, radio and tripminder's also dead. Is the tripminder on a loose wire?

heres how to fix your interior lights.

when you looked at the fuse box did you see a wire dangling that goes to the back of the fuse box plug one side of the i believe 20 amp fuse check the evtm manual for what amperage it takes. then the other connector piece that i stuck into the empty fuse slot which was for fuse position 8 and stick the one end to the other side of the fuse and the other side of that wire connector into the fuse panel position 8 bingo you will have interior lights and the radio and tripminder they run off the same wire.

loose wire/connection somewhere in the circuit probably. or something that was unhooked that is now hooked back up is shorting something and backfeeding 12V to the back-up lights causing an effective 0V drop. happy hunting.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm considering tomorrow, or maybe thursday. I don't even think you've heard the dual exhaust with pre/cats yet, have you? I'm somewhat sure Matt did test pipes at the exact time he converted to dual exhaust, but not positive.

It's got a nice growl to it at idle, but subtle. But WOT, it's got that '1980's police chase movie cop car acceleration' sound to it. 90% of the noise coming from under the hood. XD

Also, I think I might have a lifter sticking. The engine sometimes taps during a cold start, and it's coming from the right cylinder bank. Once the water temp is above 140-ish degrees, the tap goes away.

Shift points on the AOD are ~4k WOT; 2,100 while grandpa driving, I take that to be normal? Not like I often drive WOT. This thing is way too cruisey and relaxing, it kills my inner boy racer. Maybe now my driver's license will go back down to 0 points.

Stock AOD's shift at 4k at WOT, and stock lopo's are done at 4k anyways.

Sounds like this car has some interesting wiring jobs.

He had cats on it at one point before he took them off again. If anything it sounds similar to my exhaust, except mine's a little louder due to the 2.5" pipes in the rear.

As for the tapping, you're gonna have to deal with that until that engine goes away. Just make sure that the oil level is full, and just drive it. Either that, or it's piston slap, or the lopo knock. All of these problems are unavoidable so, like I said, as long as it is full of oil, it will be fine. It still has oil pressure to my knowledge so...
AOD shifts sound about right. Last I drove the car, the trans actually did what it was supposed to do. It actually downshifts with little throttle application in 4th gear. Something I wish my own car would do.

You're coming tomorrow as in Sunday? Or Monday?

Today, if possible. If you don't mind sending me your coordinates via PM. We still got a few hours of sunlight left.

Engine usually has about 12-14 PSI at idle, 15-20 PSI off-idle cruisinjg, and 40-60 PSI near max RPM.

Well, that was a fun evening. Everything's working now, INCLUDING THE HAZARDS. Great work, John. you've proved to be a big help and if I chicken out on the heater core, I'm definitely commissioning you. Hopefully the reverse lights don't go out again.
