with all the fading on that car (no offence, mine has enough fading to screw stuff up too) I'd probably get whoever is mixing or spraying the paint to use one of those nifty optical colour scan devices to get a proper colour. I doubt exactly replicating the colour it left the factory as would be a good match currently, especially on horizontal surfaces like the trunk and hood.

I'd still like to know the code for the repaint; and yes, the sticker is no longer legible.

          New problem.

Door locks. Namely, the locking function. To unlock the doors, there isn't an issue. HOWEVER, if I try locking the doors - either by remote, or using the regular buttons, all I hear is a faint click sound coming from the driver's kickpanel area. What could the issue be?

passenger kick panel theres relays for the lock and unlock there taped together with electrical tape one of them is not working. there are extra relays under the hoods grab one and figure out which relay is not working. they may need even a stronger relay. honestly i cant tell you which one is the lock relay though john may be able to.

one is an oem ford relay replace that one should have a ford logo printed on it that i believe is the lock one. replace it with one under the hood in the relay box on the drivers fender. make sure you take one wire off at a time and make sure they all go in the same positions that are numbered on the old relay match when pulling off one of the connectors attach it to the new relay before pulling another one off so you dont blow up stuff.

if that is too scary for you to touch with all the relays in that passengers side kick panel i would suggest letting john guide you to fix the problem.

I experience this problem from time to time and believe it has something to do with the aftermarket key-less entry stuff. Have you tried locking the door from the passengers side? Have you opened the car manually then started the car? I know my car is funny if open the car manually then start the car......the keyless brain just looses track of where it is an sorta messes up.

I say try to lock the door from the p.side. then try the buttons from the d.side.

                    I didn't touch a goddamned thing. >:

I always lock the doors with the inside button, then unlock with key. I can't stand the keyless entry's stupid LED blinking. I only really use keyless for chirp and even then, it's hard to miss a Grand Marquis in a parking lot.

Tried all buttons on all sides. All I get is faint clicking from the kick panel. Probably the relay that Matt mentioned, which I have no idea what to replace it with.

Oh yeah, just like how it's a great idea to swap a 15 amp fuse for a 30 amp fuse when the 15 keeps blowing.

Thanks, but I'll take electrical advice from John instead.

and if the 30 amp keeps blowing, put a jumper in place of the fuse. it will never blow again.

and whatever is blowing it will let the magic smoke out and you'll know what to replace.
