Maybe get a quote from a shipper. You may get lucky on a back haul or something. By the time figure gas, renting the dolly etc it may not be that much more money.

Bottom line is you should get that car out of there. The entire story/situations sounds like bad news waiting to happen.

I would of swap to carb at least if i was you to avoid all that BS. Carbs are alright as long as you dont have plugged cats. And 16 inch cop rims and tires are $80 for a set of four. So no towing is needed.

[QUOTE=miamibob;694870]http://www.bestroadsideservice.com/ I have them for my 3 cars. Total for the year, for ALL three is $175 and they tow a LONG distance - not like 15 miles or some shit like some of the companies. Check them out!! I do believe, however, you need a subscription for at least 5 days before the service kicks in but worth it for our older cars that can fail at any time. Bobby

P.S. Matt, in your posts can you use more sentence breaks and periods??? The "run-on" sentences give me a headache![/QUOTE

Hmmm, I'm going to make an extremely unethical suggestion, but I knew a guy who used to scan a valid inspection sticker, photoshop it, and slap it in the window when his car wouldn't pass. Had to print a couple since they faded in the sun after a few weeks, but it worked. Especially if you only need it to be towed

update tuesday the mark came home on a car trailer. now the car is in storage i started prepping it for the eec iv conversion. the valve covers are off, cfi unit, eec iii ecm and wiring, thermacator system. got a few more stuff to get off. I also put grill tension springs in since when i got the car the grill would flap back and forth cause it was missing the springs so now its like new. Stay tuned for more updates. heres pics Click image for larger version

if grabbing from a yard, grab the rods and use whichever actually fit. you may need a custom size if the lifter seats in the valley are different from CFI to EFI.

time for a big update since i havent updated about the mark in awhile been working non stop. got everything done and ready for the eec iv sefi swap just gotta go junkyard hunting in a couple of weeks. tried to drill out the broken bolt from the head but it didnt work. so now i have a set of E7 heads going on the mark. down to the block i was surprised to see that at least in 1982 lincolns got valve reliefs on the pistons which my 1983 merc did not have lincolns must be special lol. walls of the cylinders are in great shape and so are the pistons. old exhaust is off and now im ready to rebuild the motor that is after i fight with the damn lower timing sprocket as it wont come off the crank its loosened but once getting close to be off the crank it gets extremely hard to yank off by hand never had this kind of issue i was thinking of applying pb blaster to the sprocket and the crank and letting penatrate to see if it slides it off. all the eec iii cfi bullcrap is out. did all this work myself so far. john sexton and i will both rebuild it together since this is my first eec iii cfi to eec iv sefi swap. while i wait for parts i started to refurbish the faded gold off the dash trim pieces. it came out nicer than beofre but the previous owner bent 2 of the dash panels so now i will have to look for 2 mint ones. heres pics of my progress.Click image for larger version

That is one nasty looking engine. I'd have the whole thing out and installed in a scrap bin in favor of something with a roller cam. At a minimum, it would come out for a hot tank session to get all that crud out of it.
