You talkin the one out of a TC? or like one out of a thunderchicken? I think the thunderchickens had a digital tach integrated into the digital readout... wiring would be a major PITA u would have to get the sensors that go with the cluster (ie oil press sender, coolant sender) im sure it could be done, do u have cruise? if you have cruise u probably could just tap into the vvs for mph input...

It be cool to have one, but i wouldnt wanna be toying with it as my daily driver.....

I wouldnt mind integrating the vehicle system console out of a thunderchicken, the one that tells u when to change the oil, and if the coolant is low.... i think they were only equipped on the superchickens in the eairly 90s... 3.8L SC

You could do custom aftermarket Dakota Digital or something similar.

i'm almost done with mine!!!! i took one out of an '87 cougar and mocked it up to fit in the place of the stock speedo. right now i'm needing to finish the tinted plexi-glass to make it look perfect and finish the sensor swaps. if your thinging of this one you have to change the coolant, oil presure, and fuel level senders. as well as run a line from the coil to the tach so it can read. and if you want the fuel economy part to work you have to add a wire from the brain(pin#35) to the cluster for fuel flow.it is not a swap for the faint of heart, sodering challanged,or some one who does not have a back-up car. that's why mine took so long my wifes car broke down so the vic became the only mode of trasport we had for those of you who want to see it done i'm trying to get my brother to come over with his digital camera to get good pics. my cheapy just looked like the dash had a blue neaon bar where the guages should have been .

i alredy have the sending units from the swap i did on my cougar, from anolog to digi.(i'm using the same cluster as a matter of fact)the only one i don't have is the fuel sender. thats only because the cougar had a tank mounted flat under the trunk in stead of one mounted up and down infront of the trunk like ours. actually does any one know if the town car tank is mounted like the ones in crown vics or is it flat??? i've got a town car here that i can rob if it is and at least get the fuel guage running the right way.

TC gas tank should be the same... and also you can remove the fuel level sender without dropping the tank, but youd prolly need a TC digital level sender cuz Im sure the one from the couger is position in a different orientation than ours. Who knows though maybe you can frankenstien the cougar one into your box.

the cougar one lies flat where as ours is diagonoly behind the back seat. so the one out of the cougar would be about 90 degrees off i would assume? and i have a digi tc donner in the yard. how do you get the sender out with out dropping the tanks???

the fuel pump is on the back of the tank (against the trunk wall) and the level sender is on the front side - Im pretty sure tom swapped his sender without dropping the tank. Make sure the gas level is low or you will get a gas bath. \Use a brass punch on the ring, we dont need ant box fires!!!!

into a box towcar? no too hard.

Into a vic? lots of dremeling, modifiying and custom wiring needed. I almost suceeded, and my product had no odometer.

into a marquis? somewhere between the two.

I noticed they're the same size/shape as a marquis' cluster. Would the dash panels from the marquis make fitment easier. I can handle the wiring, it's just making it fit physically that I'm concerned about.

The physical fit isn't as good as it seems like just looking at it. The semi circle cutout in the middle of the marquis cluster makes things difficult. My cluster has been on hold for a while. i saved it for a winter project, and considering it is 14 degrees out i think its about time to start again. Here is where i was when i left off, I'm bored now so i think i will start this again.
