Motor is all finished and ready to put in. Started tearing down the old motor to get that ready to come out. that thing is a damn mess, luckily no bolts have fought with me so far. I'm so tempted to remove the a/c, that shit takes up so much space. I know scott and thain won't like that idea Prolly keep it since it actually works somewhat. Got a lot done in a couple hours, especially since my contact fell out into all that goop about 30 minutes into this, and my hands were a mess. So i just did the rest blind. Here's more pics, the one of the new motor looks really orange in that light.

wow... that's bright! No lack of telling where the engine is and where other stuff begins once that's in the engine bay.

Yeah, thats always nice. Thanks for the comments mangs.

Its just about ready to pull, got too dark to work on it anymore today. Need to cut the air injection pipes off the back of the heads, pull the power steering pump away. Then just the bellhousing bolts and two motor mount bolts left.

Having a car with 4 cats makes it trickier getting downpipes unbolted from manifolds, i noticed that. Still haven't run into any stuck or broken bolts luckily. I'll pull out the exhaust piece with the cats on it so i can cut off all the smog pump pipes and weld those holes up nicely.

After that, few other things i want to take car of:
-tap new holes for the drivers side front shock, one bolt is completely ripped out, and the other is close. Maybe even weld nuts to the other side if it's easy enough access.
-Add a fuel flow signal pin to the ecm harness while its out so i can put in a tripminder
-Drill a hole in a good spot on the firewall, and add a grommet to fish gauge wires and such through.
            -lots and lots of degreasing.

Made a deal with the guy that runs a fuel injector cleaning shop here to trade a full cleaning of the injectors for this motor for two sets of old injectors i had laying around that i wasn't using. $128 value, didn't have the money to have them cleaned so this works great. Nice to know your injectors are fresh.

Looks like rain the next couple days, the car is outside so i wont be doing much before then. Need to rent/buy/borrow/steal an engine hoist before then too.

                  Good deal

Problem with re-tapping the holes is there isn't much material there. I used clip nuts on mine, but if you can weld a nut onto the back side, that would be better.

Not much more progress yet, been pouring for the last several days, now its cold and windy. Did get back my cleaned injectors though, this guy does good work, and he always puts jolly ranchers in too, weird, but who doesn't like free candy

Finally bought a engine hoist and pulled the old motor yesterday. Went pretty smoothly. Now need to degrease the engine bay as best i can and get the parts that go back on cleaned up, not looking forward to that much cleaning. I'm ready to be done with this project. Not sure when i'll finish, shouldn't be any later than wednesday if the weather stays ok.

Motor is finally in. Didn't spend as much time degreasing the engine bay as i should have, just didn't have the energy. I want this thing back on the road.

Had the mot back in and lined up when i noticed 4 or 5 teeth on the flywheel were ground off. So had to pull it back out and put on another. Luckily exploder and box flywheels are the same. looked part websites to double check. Lots of storms just missing me today, they would get close and turn right as it started to get windy and dark.

Welded the exhaust pipes up where the smog tubes used to go in. Also welded the correct throttle bracket on the throttle body. Fixed the shock mounting bolts too. no way i could weld nuts on the other side so i just put them on without welding. takes a little bit longer, but the shocks are new, and they dont need changed that often. Hopefully have it running by tomorrow night
