Default 85 HPP LED dash II complete!

Thats right, the little place in my brain where Ive been re-directing all my LED impulses must have reached capacity and burst, because Ive got LED fever again!!

The original LED dash was one of the first things I did with LEDs, its nice and all but is now very outdated
It uses individual 'bullet' LEDs, and since there are much better and brighter (and now cheaper) LED products out there, I decided it was time.

These slim LED strips are backed with 3M and can be cut to any size. If you can solder, you can even re-use the piece you cut off.
Since to my delight there is room, I plan to do two rows of these, and yes of course they will still flash to the music

Thanks mang! Just wait till these are done! mmmmmmm

Dont worry Scottmang they will be done very soon!!

Pulling the old metal LED bezels out of the dash pieces has been a pita... the thin nuts all locked up and keep spinning each one around, and the outer ends are tapered and shiny, so they are hard to grip!
Then of course once I got them all out, I changed my mind and decided to use the other red dash pices I have for this, the ones with the 'LTD' badge instead of 'LTD CrownVic'...

Anyways, I just have to cut the other strip and then solder wire onto its leftover piece, figure out a couple things and then get it all back together.
I'm hoping you will need some welding goggles to look at it

So... many... lights. Is that a distraction when you are driving at night?

Well, generally they arent on while driving - but the old ones weren't, since they were very directional and pointed strait down. All you saw from headrest level was the nice blue glow it made in the floorboards and your lap.
These new ones point strait down too, but being brighter and about 5x in number... Im not really sure what to expect.

I like it, what would be cooler though is if the lights along the dashboard acted like a giant VU meter, more sound making the lights go out further.
