if you can set the ignition timing to where it belongs, and the #1 spot on the cap is connected to the #1 spark plug wire, you're fine. If it was off, you'd either have the spark plug wires moved around on the distributor, or you wouldn't be able to turn the distributor enough to get the timing set properly.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

:bashing head aginst wall:
Ok, well im not sure wather to be happy or what...
I just went to the store and back. and had no poping what so ever, and also it didnt stall..
I said wtfIt just sorta idled like it should like a nromale car would. didnt rev up or down.
So i said wtf agine. and said well i go up my hill ( rather steep one.) And see if it pops going up or down it.. Well it didnt pop going up it and i went and stoped her to turn her around, didnt stall still the idle was good.
So i said well let's try OD so i put her in that. Well she dosent like going fast quick... in OD.. thats cool though. ( She poped one time when i tried to go fast from a dead stop but eh.. who cares about that hehe. ) Went and started down the hill and still no poping. and got to my driveway stoped didnt stall...
The only thing i done yesterday was this.
Me and Nate mang where talking and he was wondering where my 10 btdc wound up at when the car ran right. So I went out and checked it for him, and when i went to set it back i decided to put it at 12 instead of 10 or well very close to 12 hehe.
So wactha mang's think?
Got any suggestions for a test?
( Sorry if some of that sounds like rambling... kinda got side tracked via two woman yelling at one another)

Humm, just went and talked with The Scott Mang ;D hehe. And he was reminding me about the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump relay switch. More so on the switch.
hehe, He asked "does the car feel like it runs out of fuel then pops and comes back to life and so on and so forth?"
And that is exzactly what it does...
So ima see if Napa is gonna be open today.and buy that connector.
Would any of you mang's know how to change out the fuel pump relay connector? Im thinking you cut wires then splice them back together ^_^ but that dosent sound like a clean circuit at all...
O yea that poping returned agine just a mina go when i done the same drive...People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

I'm pretty sure that's how you would change out the connector. Splice and connect. If you have a soldering iron and some solder you can make a lot cleaner.
Or you could do those wire connectors that come in different colors and when they are all in then you can wrap them with electrical tape. I don't know the gauge of wire the fuel pump relay uses so I couldn't tell you which colored connector to use.
Good luck

if you can solder, solder them and put shrink tube over it. Failing that, crimp connectors and shrink tube, crimps and liquid tape (this is really awesome shit by the way), or crimps and regular tape.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

one is for the fuel pump, the other is for the ECM... I guess either could cause those symptoms???
Also - do you still have the exhaust heat valve flapper? Its the thing on the end of the driver side exhaust manifold... if the flapper is broken and getting stuck closed (if its even possible for it to close that far) it could be clogging up your exhaust.
Its supposed to only work when you warm up from a cold start, controlled by the thermal vacuum switch on the rear corner of the intake manifold.
