    Im content atm.. Im not thrilled.. But im content



    O yea. What im not found of is the shifting. I dont like reeeeeev BAM. I just like it to shift smooth. not hard and not loose.

    Also i dont like the fact that it is still bloody poping...

    Now on the basic stuff that still needs to be done. The valve cover gasket gotta be tightened down some more. And the vacume leaks from the vaume hoses need to be replaced. And hopefully that will cure the high idle. And yes i did try playing with my idle ajuster screws.




    OOOO, one more thing. Sorry my mind isnt 100% with it. Damn smoke got to me.

    100% you guys rock. You took a guy that never changed his own oil before. and got him to take the front end off and put new timing chain on, And now you got same green horn put a new top end on ..

      Invest in a basic Ford Engine guide..... It will give you all of the torque specs including the torque pattern.... Heads and intakes are pretty touchy when it comes to the torque pattern... One thing to remember with Ford SB motors is that you do not want to torque the intake to the max spec... You can end up pulling up on the outside edge of the heads away from the block and blow your head gasket......




      You need to bond with some convoluted tubing mang.....

            Gonna need some carb tuning to see if its just an adjustment problem. Seal those vacuum ports off too.

              Got one vac leake fixed. That god dang coal canister which i never could find a canister for it... Yeaa i had it opluged to the tree vac. it's part of the ufo thingy.... Screw that UFO thingy hehehe.

              Any rate. that slowed down the idle. got ride of black smoke etc.


              And i been thinking agine. And Brian is fixing to get my attention and get me to get a H instaled on my duals. Might as well as ima go down there anyways to curse them dudes out :P

                  Also this poping is difrent from the last poping.. Last time it didnt kill my engine when it poped.. this time it kills the engine.

                    Two new problems though

                    Ok, First problem.

                    When i turn her off like say at the gas station. I go in pay for gas pump gas etc. Get back int he car. Try to turn her over. She dont want to start.

                    She just go ruarua rua rua

                    But after a few min's she will start up.

                    Secound problem

                    When travling down the road. Giving her a little gas she will become unrespounce to any throttole. She dosent cut off she just wont go any faster ... She well sounds like the carb shuts off if theres such a thing?
                    Or well the same signs as a govoner... Is there one on my car?

                      If the carb shut off then it would be a fuel delivery problem, but you said it doesn't die. Governor in your tranny maybe. I don't know

                              Also DK, check to see if the duraspark module is getting hot while driving.

                                The DS module is a good point. Alot of people though that was the problem with my car, being that the spark was intermittent when it came to temperature. That wasn't the problem with me though... I had a combo of two problems; one was fuel delivery (long story), and the other was a faulty pickup coil in the dist. But, since your dist is rebuilt, it has a new pickup. Chances are, if its ignition related, you should heed Tom's advice.

                                If the choke is hooked up right, it works fabulously. If you're having trouble with it, you eiother need to adjust it, or it isn't hooked up right. At first, in all the excitement, I hooked my choke to a constant 12V source. It wasn't working right, so naturally I got pissed. But, when I hooked it up right (truly a novel idea), it works perfectly. Cold starts are great, with a half pump, and it doesn't load up like the VV did. I did have to adjust is a little too though. My hot starts are excellent; I just barely have to bump the key.

                                DK, do you have a spacer between the carb and the intake? Althought I personally didn't have the problem, it may be too much heat is conducting through the manifold into the carb. That could cause vapor like condition, like you've suspected. A phenolic spacer, or a good thick carb gasket could remedy this...
