So after much (much!) deliberation with myself and mental anguish, I decided to pass on a ridiculously good deal on a set of HPPs. I've never thought they look awesome on a box, but that's just me. However, I'm now second-guessing myself and considering buying them just to stash 'em for the future.

To settle it once and for all, does anyone have a good, larger picture of their box from the side with HPPs on? 85crownHPP, I've checked out all your cardomain.com pictures. Your setup is a bit different than mine--with your painted centers and white '85 body style, I think they look rad. But I'm not sure how they'd look on my car. I have a '90 burgandy-brown CV. 88grandmarq, do you have any pics of your car with a good side-view of the wheels? I've seen the one to start this thread off.

          Thanks.

p.s. just to clarify, that "ridiculously good deal" is $100 for all 4 with rubber off a '97.

Thanks 87. That helps, but a TC looks pretty different from a CV. Man, I should just stop hemming and hawing and buy the stupid things...

So I just did some (very) crude photo editing (with MS Paint), so forgive the half-assed look, but humor me: what do you think??

It does look pretty good doesn't it? The guy who's selling them doesn't really know what they are. He said he pulled them from a totaled "grandma car." The listing is actually for a "good set of tires." The ironic thing is that the tires are not in great shape.

That looks good man! I'd go ahead and buy them if you can spare the cash. How bad are the tires? Id make sure you can at least ride on them for a while... and ask the guy to take a good look at the rims to check for bends... alloys bend the rims easily. I got lucky on my set, only one has a tiny bend that I can't feel on the road.

Two of the tires are probably at 20%, and two at about 15%. Not great at all. Could probably get through the summer though. But regardless of the condition of the rubber, at that price, they're worth picking up. I looked at all four pretty closely myself, and didn't see any imperfections. That's just eyeballing it though...there could be damage I guess, but I didn't see any.

Anyone who's seen my dumb decision process unfold here on the board knows I just picked up new tires for my stock turbines (see "How do these tires look?" thread). But those HPPs are still available, and they're just burning a big giant hole in my conscience!

Lucky for me, our Dodge Caravan runs 215/70/15s, and they're not far from being done, so I can always swap the rubber from my CV to the van, and use the new HPPs full-time.

85crownHPP, do you have any pics of your '85 with the HPPs on *before* you painted them black?

Buy them. for 100 bucks, if the rubber is decent you can make your money back even if you don't like it. Around here decent rubber in that size goes for pushing 100 a set, then you still have somewhat desirable rims.
