    Another big brake question

    As I understand it, all I have to do to upgrade to "big brakes" on a 91CV is

    to pull the front disc brakes off a 98-02 and bolt them on the 91?

    I would pull EVERYTHING!!

    And this swap will just bolt right on, no surprises? nothing else to swap?

      actually, I found the 93-95 upper control arms work better.

      you have to re-use the stock, box body control arm shaft so you can bolt it to the frame.
      the 96-02 upper control arm has a different design so it doesn't work as well.

      you re-use the stock lower control arm but need to install a 98-02 lower ball joint. then you simply bolt the 98-02 spindle/hub assembly in place and then install the rotor, caliper bracket, brake caliper and correct hoses. you do need a SAE to metric brake line adaptor to thread the 98-02 brake hose to the factory metal line.

        The 92-94 upper arms already have the shaft in them, so you don't have to remove the original and re-install it.

          right... I think I ended up with 96 upper control arms, which might have been what the problem was. its been a while since I did the brake swap.

            i've done it both ways, easier to use 92-94 upper arms, but you gotta use what you can find

            1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
