    Project 1979 Clone

As you may know, I just aquired scott's 2dr 1987 vic.

Very nice car, but I wanna go with a more old school look with it.

This means I am going to:

    1. clear Markers and corners
    2. 79 taillights
    3. 79 bumper
    4 Vinyl top delete
    5. full repaint, in "fridge white"

Also, I am going to convince scott to stab that Exploder motor he's got in there.

For wheels, I would prob get a set of new Mustang Mach 1 wheels...

This, and a big brake conversion.

All this would yeild a efficient, quick, and reliable daily driver, with old-school flair.

    What does everyone think?

It's not a true '79 clone without aero mirrors.

You might lucky at some point and score two rust free, undamaged doors from a '79 tudor. That'd be the only way though.

Im a big fan of the 79 conversion You'll need to hood ornament to make it complete!

I have mint tails in the works, and hopefully Ill find the vented bumper... if I dont fudge it all up with a 88-91 bumper

                      88-91 Conversion is the best.

Nope, front-end gets okay, but the 88-91 tail lights look like shit. Now some 88-91 bumpers and moldings installed on a boxy box might be much better, but I haven't learned Photoshop just yet to try to model it.

Tom, the project sounds like it's gonna be a sweet car when done, go for it!

Ever since I took ownership of the car, I was looknig at it, and the more and more I looked, the more I thoguht a 79 close would be badass..

Keeping most of the original chrome (no blacking out, and removing the lower trim, wheelwell trim, and vinyl top) and a repaint with white, along with those wheels, it would be a real looker...

Pete also had a little to do with it, his car inspired me

I painted the "FORD" in the grill black also now have the hood ornament on, the "LTD" i the center of that is black also. Really stands out. I repainted the silver trim around the tails.

I was going to do a '79 conversion, but the fact that parts are rare, and becoming very exspensive, has halted that idea. I'm sticking with the 88-91 body, as they don't get enough respect.

And the 88-91 bumpers will not look good on an older box because they're not perfectly straight. They stick out farther as well.
