Not much of an update, but was playing with some silver spray paint and colored the loose trim pieces I had in the glove box. Now the dash is complete and a little brighter than it was with all the black plastic.

And had a little photoshoot with my older brother and his 1967 IH 1200B.

Broke down and ordered a set of chrome mirrors...and while I had the door panels off, I replaced the black plastic door release handles with chrome ones from an older F-150 (provided by Ivan).

              Prototype M

So got bored today and pulled out some spare emblems I have been accumulating, and presto! So begins the process of creating a Mercury M150. This is merely the prototyping phase, as everything is only stuck on using 3M trim tape. I'm wanting to gather a feel for the placement of the emblems...and the front will definitely need some work...

The damn black oval behind the original emblem on the grille is such an eyesore, so I covered it with some metal flashing. Still doesn't create a perfect match up, but it's better than the plastic...will need to play around with the spare grille I have.

Not sure if I'm thrilled with the tailgate either...but for now it works. Will have to open up Photoshop and play around with placement and a few different styles and all...

And just a little flare on the dash. Thought it kinda looked neat there. Not sure if it's gonna be permanent though.

So I'm gonna cruise around for a little bit like this, see how I feel about the idea and if anything new pops into my head. If I change my mind, everything will pop back off and the blue oval will go back on the front. I'm not sure if I'm really satisfied with how any of it looks right now, so I'll definitely be thinking about how many different ways I can change things around.

You could photo-shop a Mercury Mountaineer grill on there.

Hey Scott, just a thought. I wonder if the trunk emblem from the 88-91 Grand Marquis would look better in the grille area. Btw, my buddy just picked up a 91 F-150 I6/5spd, and he loves it. Regardless of what some people think, it's not that bad of a power combo. I got it to scoot pretty quick, especially after we replaced the broken motor mounts. And for those wondering, 1st gear is not a granny gear on these trannies.

If you don't haul stuff with it that's can't get rained on i'd pull the shell off it, those are heavy and you'd probably gain a few mpg with it off. I'd rather have a soft cover.

                            Some quick photoshops for y'all.

Mike, I do like the trunk emblem idea. Matches much better than what I have on there now. I have spare one around here somewhere too...but no idea where. That would probably disguise the black plastic oval as well, so I need to go rooting through my stuff and take some measurements.

The grille is from a newer Mountaineer, but it gives the same general idea.

Not sure what I think of the grill, but a nice little experiment.

If any old timer calls you on it, just say it's a Canada-only model.
