EVIL LTD WROTE:
"I don't want to sound mean, but I think I hate you. Such a nice car, and for free? Okay, not really hate, but the strongest jealousy I've felt since Brad beat me OFF to Angelina. Congratulations on the beautiful car!" - MissinVicin
MISSINVICIN REPLIES:
Hey Evil LTD, just because you can read between the lines doesn't mean you should share it with everyone else! What me and Brad do in the wood shed is nobodys business but our own!
Got it inspected this week and the exhaust didn't pass...perfect time to upgrade to dual exhaust i figured. I didn't realize that the car has 2 cataytic convertors stock, so it didn't cost as much as I anticipated for true dual exhaust. It sounds a good deal better now, but not obnoxiously so. I've had 2 offers to buy the car in the last week. Next stop, tint shop. Life is good.

Hello all. Haven't been on here for several months. Had the car professionally detailed inside and out. Haven't been driving it much lately though.
Quick transmission question: what's the maximum speed it's safe to go when the car is in D (rather than OD). Driving around town in the auto overdrive is annoying as hell as it will shift in and out of 4th while in a 35 mph zone. I'm used to driving a 5 spd manual where one doesn't have to put up with such nonsense.
Safe speed? Well that depends on your definition of safe. Till the car stops accelerating at 120mph. All D does is keep in from going into OD, 3rd is a 1:1 ratio, which is what all cars used to have as their final gear. the real matter is that above 45-50mph it is less efficient than being in OD.
Wow, another member from KC. I musta missed you last time you were here. Where in KC are you? I live in Overland Park. Hwycruiser also lives in Johnson County.

I wouldn't use Overdrive on anything but highways...Around town and hills? Forget it...I rarely use my OD. I'll find myself downshifting to D on the highway at times too, because a hill can take me from 65-70 mph into the 50s...

So hopping on the highway and going 70 mph for several miles in D isn't harming anything, assuming one is willing to eat the lost gas mileage? Just wanted to double check...I figured the folks on here would know.
I'm in Raymore, just south of Kansas City on the MO side. As a sidenote, if anyone is interested in buying a 95 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible, let me know. Go to http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2272179 for more info. I inherited it earlier this year and now have 3 cars, so it's the one that has to go.
