    Wassup from South Carolina!

    Hey guys -
I'm Nick. I've been on the taurusclub.com (moderator) website for almost a decade, and on taurusowners.com (admin) since it started as "Bull Geek". You can take a wild guess - yes I know 'em and drive 'em

First car I bought was the 2000 listed in my signature. I then bought an 87 sedan 3.0V6 for $100. It was too far gone to save, so off to the scrapyard. I then bought the 87 wagon 3.0V6. Last year I bought a misdiagnosed 97 V8SHO for cheap and had the cams welded. I've learned to like V8s! Unfortunately, I finally figured out the trans problem just recently in the 87 wagon, coupled with leaks that have reoccured after fixing things over and over, it's getting too expensive - so it's off to a new home in TN in a few weeks to a guy that operates a junkyard.

Enter the 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Colony Park. Friend (who has been a mechanic for 30+ years) was selling this car cheap. It's the first car I've ever bought with body rot. It has 3 spots on the body that need repair (side down low opposite spare tire, another next to driver tail light, another in wheel well arches up front. And 1 small spot on the frame. Ohio car until early 04 when it came down to Columbia, SC. Hot heat, cold air, tinted windows, aftermarket CD player w/decent speakers up front. Minor exhaust leak and burns a little oil. Solid car though. Pretty much turn key and go - minus the tires it needs. Mileage is est. to be around 173K or so (broken gear sets). I have replacement odometer and trip odometer gear kits in the mail.

    Enough babble...pics!

Welcome to GMN, that's one beautiful wagon you've got! 91 was the last year for the box panthers, and the last year for wagons. Those leather seats look good too. I've got a 94 taurus myself, kind of just got stuck with it, right now it's waiting to go to the junkyard. It had a good run, took me on about 6 out of state road trips, but I just can't stand that baby blue color lol.

But anyways you've got a nice panther there, a little high on miles but apparently well maintained so considering that it should have a lot of life left in it. I hope to own one like it one day.

Thanks guys - time/weather permitting, I'll go get the tires mounted tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll go get it done on Monday. Then I can actually drive this car and see how it is. It was all over the road driving it home the other night with the bad tires.

If Ft Jackson closes, it's going to hurt Columbia. Hope it doesn't!!!

This wagon weighs 1000 lbs more than the 87 Taurus wagon I just sold. It's nearly 2 feet longer as well

I've driven the wagon at least 3 tank fulls of gas so far. Replaced water pump (gasket leaking) with a Motorcraft, replaced the radiator hoses, bypass hoses, and heater hoses. Also replaced the PCV screen and PCV grommet (it disintegrated). All that's left to fix...

-the upper latch on the tailgate so the thing locks.
                    -all 4 door lock actuators

And I just discovered yesterday I do infact have cracked exhaust manifolds on both sides...so am reading on the forum about what to do for that next (cheapie 5.0HO w/welding or eBay/Dorman bolt on cast iron ones).

                      That wagon is AWESOME!
It reminds me of my '88 Wagon that I used to have.

I'm driving this thing up to Detroit/Canton/Auburn Hills in a few weeks for a few days. Then going to the Intl. Station Wagon Club meet up in Fort Wayne Indiana. Can't wait to take the trip - manifolds will have to wait.

The wagon has an H pipe with duals right now. Good setup! I'll look into these Mustang Shortys you speak of...thanks.

Here's the schedule for the show:

Looks like a few meetups are happening. So if you see a bunch of wagons running around town, now you know. First time meeting up with this group - should be fun.
