yeah. Camry v6 can do 0-60 in 6. there are even a few hybrids (sonata?) that can do <7 second 0-60s. A new beetle takes 6.6. you get the idea.

With the intake waiting patiently in the basement, 3.27 or 355 gears, and a new converter, I expect to be in the 7 second range and that'll still not let me keep up with a STOCK new civic SI. A poor launch could have me losing from a well driven stock Mazda 3 with the big engine. 0-60 in 7 seconds isn't that quick, and more to the point isn't that hard to acheive.

      .

IMHO its plenty quick, just not for today. In the late 70s early 80s 7 seconds was fast.

I agree it's fast enough to be fun, but if your goal is being fast enough to impress other people, or beat other people, it's not cutting it. Hell my car probably can't do it in under 9 seconds (9.7 timed on wet pavement, slight uphill) and it's fast enough for me to entertain myself. But is it going to make any Integradouche put his tail between his legs, or scare the girl in the passenger seat? generally not.

my mark will do 0-60 pretty quick... but it's still a laggard compared to the new sporty cars much less a sports car.

it'll be fun to find out what the vic can do now.

Okay, by "Z" drivers, I meant mostly drivers of 300ZX's and early 350Z's. Usually, the newer and faster the car, the less of a douche the driver is. Whereas when it's slow and loud, they just want to race everyone. And hell, if my '87 Supra Turbo could keep nose to nose with a 300ZX 5-speed, I think I'd be able to walk a non-Turbo ZX and at least hang with a Z. :P

7 seconds might not beat a modern Civic Si, but it will SPANK a '92-95 model. The most common 'rival'.

By the way, Samantha is now wearing Definity HP800 tires. 215-65R15. And they fucking ROCK. The car's grip level is unbelievable considering the tires are supposed to be all-season touring!

By the way, it's pretty easy to scare passengers, even in a Buick Century with a factory 0-60 time of 14 seconds. You just need to drive the right kind of road. :3

Oh, and Mr. Marquis, my dearest apologies.

Any exterior sign that the car might be any more potent than it currently is is ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THE QUESTION. The last thing I want is for people to think the car's fast. Hence me wanting to restore the vinyl top.

I have those Definity HP800 tires on both my Lincolns. very good tires. Just replaced a set on my Subaru that had 81,000 miles on them. Make sure you keep a copy of the tire reciepts in the car, Pep boys are fussy about having the receipt. Too bad the nearest Pep Boys is now 2 1/2 hours away from me .

I work at a Pep Boys, so documentation isn't really an issue. xP

                      Nice!

I had a buddy in school that used to work at a pep boys - he said his management was corrupt/didn't care enough that he could pretty much walk out of the store with whatever he wanted!

I bought some tires at pep boys about a year and a half ago for my 95 and totalled it the next day. So they just sat in the garage on steel wheels for over a year, when I got my box I loaded em into the trunk and went over there. They pulled the old tires off my box and switched the ones I had on steel wheels out and onto my turbines on the 88 and it never cost me a dime. Any auto parts place that will do that a year after the purchase date without a receipt or anything gets A+ in my book

Anthony, I'll take those one touch modules and wiring harness from ya. They won't break, because I wired them in. However Matt mounted them in the doors so it's anyone's guess :p . When we hit the yard on Thursday, we can pull a manual trunk hinge and latch. Have to pull a trunk popper too. For the just in case... possibilities (spinning key).

It's roads like that that I truly shine. More often than not, the race's outcome isn't determined by the car, it's determined by the driver.

John, you're relieved of any obligation to help me out with the climate control dilemma. A good friend of mine now NEEDS the money I offered him a while back for the heater core job so he can have the fun of performing a complete climate control removal. The heater controls will be yours, if you want them. Let's just focus on de-electronicizing everything. Hey, if the one-touch modules are mounted securely I'll just keep 'em, but the PL actuators are history. I'll bring both fobs so you can use that Code Alarm as a backup unit or resell it. We also need a trunk. If I can't find a burgundy one I'll just scuff it up and recolor it primer black.

Also, let's double check that parts list for disc brake conversion... better yet, a list on a piece of paper would be grand. This way we've got a solid attack strategy when we hit the boneyards. I'm so jealous of SoJo - NorJer doesn't have shit for used auto parts.
