I'm in favour of something like that.
I sort of feel that we could use a significant re-org of the forum/subforum structure that we have, and that was sort of a project I was cooking up and then...well, I don't know what happened, but I wasn't cooking it up anymore.
Addressing your request, maybe a structure like this somewhere in the Off Topic world:

- - Home Fixtures & Housewares (not sure on the wording here, just a category I see some value in - e.g. discuss LED light fixtures and toilets?) -
