How can you tell it was special ordered? That's what I was wondering about it, seems like it was a special order car but you never know..
On a side note, got the thing freshly oiled to thwart rust cancer..

Are the axle housings painted generally, or are they raw metal (when the cars were new)? My 88 is a rust bomb and I can't tell, the 90 is relatively clean but had a pile of surface rust on the axle housing. Yours looks like bare metal in the pic.

Oh, I skimmed through that initially but then by the time I got the report I forgot.. Cool, I suspected it was a custom ordered car but wasn't too sure as I've seen other cars with similar options.

From what I can tell the axle housings were just bare metal, see the chalk marks to the right of the cover/housing? Makes it look like only the diff cover was painted. Frame was definitely painted, that's a nice low gloss black. Medium gloss now thanks to oil/wax that gets put on it every year.

In preparation for today's meet up I decided to wax the barge. By hand. That was time consuming. Looks purtier though.

I had somehow managed to evade seeing this thread, so seeing this car in person was my first exposure to it at all...

It's a seriously clean car. Excellent condition and it presents very well.

Welp, going to try and upload photos of the flower pot but it got it's butt some exercise this past week and half. Nearly 4,000 miles worth as it went from metro Detroit to Winslow, Arizona and back, not to mention other destinations. Not a flaw, other than consuming a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. Got back just in time for the MDOT trucks and their bullshit blitz salt attacks so good thing it gets oiled annually. Didn't have to use my spare but I've got a custom wheel (Not really, just turbine like the others and with a matching tire now) so my factory spare will never see the ground again. Didn't have to use it this time, yay!
