Looks like timed vacuum control solenoids to me for an earlier car. Is it a 1983 car by chance?

I've seen these before on some sorta Ford something. Don't recall what. I feel like that's a 351 car and that's probably got a lot to do with it.

My '85 MGM has the MAP sensor placed where that mystery apparatus in on your pic. Weirdly enough it seems to have a different bracket. Also the diagnostic port is on the pass. side of the engine bay for some reason.
EDIT: seems to be a 351-thing, something vacuum related, since there's no MAP in carb'd 351's. It is actually a factory thing.Last edited by Arquemann; 07-28-2022, 09:18 AM.1985 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, "Maisa"

My 82 had that mess. It was a 302 VV car. Maybe it's a VV thing if you all don't see it on 2150 cars?
Not many pics of that car in my files but here's one.
Per the EVTM, the three roundish things are zoned vacuum switches. Attached to them are thermactor air diverted and bypass solenoids.
The red connector similar to the EEC-IV connector is the diagnostic port for the EEC-II. It's the same as the later one, just no separate connector. It didn't do anything on my car. Tried to run diagnosis with a code scanner on it but didn't get a response from it.
One more photo while I am digging through photos: that car had a factory thick radiator.

Seems the commonality is the VV, yes, since that '90 pictured would be some form of the VV. Not sure exactly what differs when they take propane, but I think it's still the VV at its heart.
An 85 302 Ford or Mercury Panther would be a 2150 (or maybe that one Holley) in Canada, and fundamentally the same as my 83, so that particular 85 OP is asking about probably was 351 in order to have the carb that brings with it those vacuum switches.Last edited by kishy; 07-28-2022, 10:12 PM.

Well thats a lot of questions answered. I just wish the data plate was visible on the door. Completely faded away.
Since that thing showed up I am looking at what else I can scrounge. Has dual exhaust so I might grab that. And are box bumpers interchangeable from sedan to wagon? Specifically the mounting plate (for lack of a better word).
Mine are rusty and the only thing holding the bumper from falling off is the trailer hitch.

You can swap bumpers, but the rear would at least look weird because the wagon rear bumper is shaped different along the top (step to get in the rear). Front is the same, although some wagons may have an aluminum front bumper if I'm not mistaken.Vic
