nope... the extra inch deck height makes that bolt accessible without a tiny crescent wrench. I've never had any issues with the blue water pump/thermostat goop on the paper gasket leaking on mine. YMMV.

What brand is the "goopy" gasket? The Fel-Pro one is dry blue paper/fiber stuff, there is no adhesive of any kind on it.

I meant the Permadry ultra-blue gasket maker that you put on that paper gasket. Use a small bead about 1/8" and you shouldn't have any issues.

I always goop both sides of the gasket.

*shrug* I install them dry. They don't leak if the mating surfaces are in good shape. Most of them aren't anymore though. Too easy to gouge aluminum or make it not flat with a grinder.

Well so far no issues, and we just used the goopy crap for a gasket.

            I hope it holds.

i use a ARP bolt in the hard to get to thermostat hsg. It is a 12 point 5/16 head on the bolt makes it easier to get to with a smaller wrench as well as its easier to adjust wrench position.
