High/Low Beam Switch Behavior on Relays

Recently put a relay headlight harness on my 88. The low/high beam switch has acted odd since. I am used to pulling the switch back, getting a click, and the beam switching (either high/low or low/high). Now I get the click in the high to low, but not low to high. On occasion, I'll try to go low to high and get nothing (no headlights!). It's like the switch needed the high current to lock in.

Did my switch die or is this just normal behavior with the relay kit?

As you've described it, my guess is the switch is gummed up or otherwise not working quite right.

Most of mine are relayed now (granted, not with an off-the-shelf harness but still taking the current off the switch) and nothing changed. If it's getting chillier there like it is here the last few days, consider that the grease in the switch might be thickening and not letting the spring-loaded parts return properly.

cant imagine the relays having any effect on the mechanical aspect of the switch.

Had some warmer weather this evening and the switch is functioning normally.

Not sure about cleaning it. Maybe some electric contact cleaner?

yeah... deox-it, contact cleaner, tuner cleaner, something to clean metal. Even WD-40 works if you follow it up with some alcohol to clean it's residue.

probably has some grease in there that has turned to glue with age and the cold just makes it worse.
