The nuts and bolts that needed replaced on my control arms I just went to a hardware store and got. I would take one off, go to the store in another car and get a set, just in case.

The stock ones aren't anything special, probably 3/8-NC if I had to guess. I don't remember if they were square head to jam against a boss or not. For some reason I was thinking the upper ball joints came with those but its been a long time. If they weren't with the uppers, I re-used the originals that were in the spindle.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Yeah, this thing took about a month to go together, and I got it back with a brand new dent up on the driver's door near the body line. Different parts compatibility problems, the upper arms didn't fit the '97 bushing kit bushings on one of the holes (they wiggled), he ended up using longer cab bushings on the passenger side and he had to cut a sleeve from an extra kit I ordered to make up for it. Both dust shields were bad so running without those for now.
It's at the shop getting aligned. The last problem was my dumb ass ordered a '91 LTD steering gear box, with two flats instead of a '98 with 1 because Amazon told me it wouldn't work. I'm done with Amazon's part checker. Everything's getting verified 1st on rock auto from now on even though that was my mistake. Ordered sway bar bushings and end links w/poly squishy bits, may do those myself. There may be a click noise in the front end on certain turn/load, but until it's aligned and sway bar stuff replaced, who knows where the problem is. Pads aren't fully bedded in on the rotors yet.
I had him fix the A/C, replaced the EVAP core and heater core while it was out (3/8 socket added as flow restriction on the heater core inlet) and that's working fine. New front springs leveled the car right TF out. I'll get pics when I get it home. Horn installed from last SF, relay or wiring is the culprit, I will have to get one of those and get it in to see what's up and if the cruise will work then.Last edited by sxcpotatoes; 07-31-2018, 11:35 AM.

You'll get some clicky/crunchy/grindy noises if the steering is near full lock and the suspension moves at all (like going over a curb or speed bump). The big brake swap significantly widens your turning radius, so you may be closer to full lock than you're used to at any given time. That might be something to consider re: click noise.
I'd really like to get some more info (photos, part numbers and so on) of what the issue is with the steering box and specifically where the one or two flats are or aren't. I was under the impression the box didn't change 90-97 and therefore there is nothing distinct about 91. This is a problem I may eventually run into.
Edit: after further review of RockAuto's application data for the steering boxes, it would appear I'm wrong, but it's definitely a bit confusing. Looks like 80 (but not 79) through 91 are one steering gear.Last edited by kishy; 07-31-2018, 12:07 PM.

Wipe some grease on the triangular bit sticking off the lower control arm. Thats the full lock steering stop. When that is dry the front end makes horrible noises at full steering lock if anything flexes. Some grease shuts it up.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
